Episode Description:
Blade blocks Axe's blow with the handle of his two-bladed weapon. Then Godaado hooks under
Blade's lance with the curved tip of his great axe and flips it out of Takaya's reach. Axe
tries to deliver the death-blow again, but this time Blade pulls the old samurai trick of
catching Axe's blade between his two hands. (At least in this case Takaya's hands are armored
rather than bare, as they usually are when this old chestnut gets used!) Pulling Axe forward,
Blade frees a foot and uses its strength to help Axe fly head over keaster. "Nicely done,"
Godaado grudgingly admits as he lands on his feet. Blade sends out a line from his arm and
brings his lance back into his own grasp, pulling partially free of the goo. He uses the
razor-sharp tip of his weapon to finish cutting himself free. The two Tekkamen clash once
more. Blade remembers some of his training under Godaado, including when the older instructor
had him spar with his brother Shinya. (Interesting - even then, Shinya tended to wear red, the
same color as his Evil armor. Wonder if we have a Char ("the Red Comet") Aznable (from Gundam)
clone here?) As they battle, Sergeant Barnard is enroute some fellow Space Marines and a
mobile energy gun. (He's also drinking Chivas Regal now rather than rot-gut whiskey!) Noal
and Balzac have finally freed themselves by directing weapons fire at each other's gluey bonds.
Blade is starting to get the worst of his current battle with Axe, the older man's greater
experience beginning to tell. Noal and Balzac interfere, distracting Godaado. They get
trashed by the Radamu Tekkaman for their efforts. Axe calls to Omega's plant-borne eye, and
the Radamu plants rise to create an enclosed arena - shutting out Blade's allies. The battle
continues within the confines of the grotesque arena. "There's no one to help you now, Boyo,"
Godaado tells Blade. Somewhere in the Arctic, Chief Freeman is bent over a computer as Honda
brings in hot coffee. Freeman is attempting to find a way to increase the amount of power
available to D-Boy as Blade. They simply don't have the resources any more to try to develop a
new weapon system; they must work on improving the ones already at hand. As Honda leaves,
Freeman muses to himself, "Sergeant Barnard, you've got to keep D-Boy alive long enough for us
to find an answer to this problem." Blade is battling valiantly, but is slowly loosing ground.
Outside, Miri, Rebin and Aki have pulled Noal and Balzac free of the wreaked Sol Tekkamen units
- only to have more purplish goo try to imprison them. A bolt of energy slams into the sludge,
and Barnard and company pull up with their power gun. "Where's the Boyo?" Barnard demands.
"Boyo? You mean D-Boy? He's there--" Noal gestures to the mounded Radamu plants. "Find a
good position to fire on it, men," Barnard orders, and they drive off. Inside, Blade is
beginning to tire out, his armor draining more energy from him than Axe’s does from its wearer.
Blade loses his double-ended lance. Using his hands as weapons, he rushes Godaado, but Axe is
too fast and catches Blade's shoulderguard with his own weapon. Barnard orders the gun to fire,
and a hole is blasted through the wall of plants. Axe is distracted for just long enough -
Blade drives a razor-edged hand through Godaado's torso. The older man stumbles back as Takaya
pulls the great axe from his shoulderguard. Axe is not yet totally defeated; he grabs Blade
and lets his armor begin to overload, knowing the resulting explosion will destroy Takaya as
well as himself. Barnard fires again, this time knocking Blade free of his opponent just
before the overload reaches critical. Afterwards, Pegas releases a nearly unconscious D-Boy
into Aki's arms. Unfortunately, they have not been able to find even a shard of Axe's tekkaset.
D-Boy greets Barnard's familiar face with a smile, and accepts a slug of whiskey from the
Sergeant's flask of Chivas... In the Ramadu's Lunar base, Shinya sits in his room, having been
given the news that Godaado has failed and paid for that failure with his life.
