Episode Description:
Barnard and Pegas are singing Johnny Boy together as the team enjoys a sunset after setting up
camp for the evening. Rebin is complaining about having to fix BOTH sets of Tekkaman Sol armor
this time. Later, Barnard tells them that Freeman has sent him to tell the Knights that they
must travel northward. There is an abandoned base under the ice cap which holds some electronic
equipment that they will need to take control of the Orbital Ring back from the aliens. D-Boy,
still depressed by the failure to obtain Axe's change crystal, seems unenthusiastic about the
plan. "What else are we to do?" Balzac asks. "Until another Tekkaman gets close enough to try
again..." Barnard pulls out a message disk on which Freeman has recorded the details of the
mission. D-Boy is having a dizzy spell as they talk about the orders, but tells no one of his
problem. Noal finds Barnard sitting outside the carry-all a little later. "There's something
you're not telling us," he says as he joins the Space Marine. Barnard tells him that Freeman
has been going over all their sensor readings and other information on the Tekkaman Weapon
System, those they've gotten from the Radamu Tekkamen as well as Blade. He's learned that the
Radamu Tekkamen have something which help them regulate the energy flow of their armor. Not only
does this allow them to remain armored-up longer, but it also protects the wearer from energy
overflows and other nasty side-effects. Blade does not have this regulator. Without it, every
time he uses his armor he is subjected to energy fluctuations and drains which can adversely
affect his health. The more often he uses the armor - and the more power he must expend in his
battles while wearing it - the worse the effects will become. "The abandoned base is in Iceland,
and we know there are Radamu infecting the whole area," Barnard says. "We've got to minimize
the amount of time the Boyo is Blade. That means you and Balzac will need to try and get that
equipment on your own, without Blade's assistance." Noal nods his understanding. Back in his
quarters, D-Boy is having another dizzy spell, and breaks a glass full of water. "I don't
understand. What's wrong with me?" he whispers. Noal returns to the quarters he shares with
D-Boy, and finds the broken glass. D-Boy shrugs it off, but Noal is alarmed when the younger
man stumbles and nearly falls as he tries to make it to his bunk. Noal has to help him up, but
D-Boy refuses to admit anything is really wrong. "I'm just tired," he says. The next day, the
team begins to plan their mission to Iceland. D-Boy is still in his quarters. As he tries to
take his uniform vest off its hanger, he has another dizzy spell and almost faints. There is a
ringing in his head that gets louder and louder, and he cries out as he's hit by a massive
headache. The team has arrived on the shore of the ice-locked lake in which the abandoned base
is sunk. D-Boy joins them, and stumbles badly on the snowy shore. "You've got a fever!" Aki
says as she helps him to his feet. "You belong in bed!" Noal and Balzac tell him they'll
handle the retrieval. "You've got a cold, D-Boy, no need to risk it getting worse. This'll be
a breeze - Balzac and I can handle it fine, right, Balzac?" Noal says cheerfully. Balzac looks
at Noal as the pilot nudges him pointedly. "Uh, right," he agrees, obviously wondering what's
going on. Noal cuts a hole in the ice with his laser gun, and the two Tekkamen Sol jump into
the cold water. They sink quickly to the bottom, where the dead base waits for them. It doesn't
take them long to find the piece of equipment Freeman has sent them to retrieve. Above, the
other members of the team listen to their report. The two exit the base - and realize that
they are now surrounded by schooling Radamu, their eyes glowing redly in the gloom. Noal
prepares to fire his weapon. Rebin shouts at him to stop, but too late - his gun short-circuits
in the salt water and fries the pilot rather than his target. Luckily he isn't killed in the
backblast, but he needs Balzac's help to begin the ascent. Like a pack of hungry sharks, the
Radamu begin to circle in. Balzac asks for D-Boy to help. Noal tries to countermand that
request, telling them that D-Boy is sick because he's used the Blade armor too often - and if
he uses it much more without adequate rest, it could cause permanent damage - or even kill him.
Barnard tells D-Boy that Noal is right. "Use the Tekkaman armor too often, and it'll kill you,"
he says. "It doesn't matter," D-Boy says. "We can't win without that equipment anyway. I'm
going." Blade is soon deep in the lake, wreaking havoc among the Radamu. "D-Boy, get out of
here, you'll kill yourself!" Noal screams. "The sooner you get out of here, the sooner I'll be
able to change back!" D-Boy retorts. His dizziness is returning, however, and he's having
problems concentrating well enough to fight effectively. The Radamu seem to sense he's having
difficulties and close in. He follows Noal and Balzac out of the water, collapsing for a
minute. He tries to use his shoulder energy cannon, but cannot control the power flow. The
energy shorts out through his body. He collapses. Balzac uses his shoulder-mounted rapid-fire
energy gun to wipe out the remaining Radamu. Noal helps Blade to his feet, and then to Pegas.
Noal tosses their hard-won price to Barnard. Still held up by Noal, D-Boy begins to cough up
blood, and collapses at their feet.
