Shihe No Meikyu
Maze Of Death

.
. Episode Description:

The Space Knights, Space Marines and Pegas are fighting off another swarm of Radamu, this time unable to call on the comatose D-Boy for help. They are finally able to drive the aliens off and break free, grateful that they face only ordinary Radamu and not enemy Tekkamen as the carry-all submerges beneath the North Atlantic. Aki and Miri are monitoring D-Boy's status worriedly. When he does wake up briefly, he is obviously disoriented and confused. Noal hopes the Chief will have an answer to this problem before D-Boy gets too bad to be healed. Somewhere on Earth, Morotu (Lance) and Hun Rii (Sword) are talking about Evil's obsession with Blade. "You've got to remain objective in order to fight properly; that's Evil's problem," Lance says. "Don't make the mistake of underestimating Blade," Sword warns him. Several days later, the carry-all finally arrives at the Alaskan base where Freeman and Honda have holed up. Rebin joyously embraces Honda, and D-Boy is immediately taken to the medical section. D-Boy wakes up long enough to recognize Chief Freeman. Freeman tells him that it seems the majority of the damage to his nervous system happens when he uses the damaged tekkaset to change into Blade. They may be able to minimize that overload, but cannot eliminate the danger totally. "We still haven't figured out what helps the others regulate their power flows," Freeman tells him. D-Boy passes out again. "Chief, how can you do this to him? It's killing him by inches instead of feet!" Noal says. "What choice do we have? We have to have him to defeat the Radamu. You all put your lives on the line every time you go out to fight - he knows exactly what the score is. Let him make the final decision." "He becomes Blade because he wants to," Aki says with painful understanding. Honda and Rebin are working on Pegas, making the changes necessary to prevent the energy overloads during D-Boy's change to Blade. D-Boy is thinking over Freeman's words as he lays in sickbay. He has sensed something else behind Freeman's words, and takes his IV out before making his way out of medical section. Noal and Balzac are having a bit of a disagreement, which is halted by an alarm going off. D-Boy, it seems, has found his way into Freeman's private laboratory. It is filled with specimens of every type of Radamu variation. He makes his way into a sealed inner room, and is shocked by what he finds. Just then Freeman, accompanied by the others, arrives - and all of them see the unusual specimen Freeman has been working on. It is one of the monstrous Radamu 'flowers', a huge red crystal at its heart rather than the pistil and stamen one would find in a normal flower. In this specimen, there is a human, wearing a rudimentary type of Tekkaman armor, encased inside the crystal. Worse, the armor bears a striking resemblance to that of Blade himself. Freeman explains that he was hoping to find a way to create a new tekkaset for D-Boy, which would eliminate a lot of the problems being caused by his current, damaged one. It hasn't worked out. The Radamu flower has created a symbiotic relationship with the human it has captured. While the Radamu is feeding off its' captive's bio-energy, it is also keeping the human alive. Crack open the crystal, and the wearer of that armor will die. However, Freeman has hopes they will be able to draw on the energy patterns of the encapsulated armor to give D-Boy enough power to transform, when necessary, into a much stronger, "Blastor" version of the Blade armor. He won't be able to use it often - it will draw far too much energy from D-Boy's life-force when used - but it may well make the difference between defeating or being defeated by the Radamu Tekkamen. Which in turn may tip the scales in the favor of Earth's defenders in the long run. Hopefully the short run, however; if Freeman could discover this way to enhance the performance of the Tekkaman armor, it won't take the Radamu long to discover a way to copy it - perhaps even surpass it - once D-Boy starts becoming Blastor rather than Blade. Of course, the problems D-Boy has had with disruptive power-flows can only increase with the greater power loads Blastor will entail. Takaya thinks it over and to the dismay of both Aki and Noal agrees. "If I don't I'll end up dead anyway; at least this way I'll have a fighting chance," he says. "Think it over first, please," Aki says. "You're still recovering from your last energy back-lash." Reluctantly D-Boy nods, he won't make his final decision right now. Sitting outside, watching the Aurora Borealis from a hillside, D-Boy remembers the sacrifices and deaths of those he has loved - his father, Miyuki, even Godaado. He recalls the lethal sibling rivalry the Radamu have engendered in Shinya, as well as his father's last words that he was to fight the Radamu to the death to protect Earth. Going back inside, he tells Freeman to proceed with Project Blastor, over Aki's protests. Pegas is soon wired up to the enhancement equipment to the Radamu crystal flower. While the others watch with various levels of concern, D-Boy enters Pegas' transformation chamber. Freeman starts adding information via computer into the process, and the crystal in the flower starts to glow. Slowly the power levels, as monitored by the computers, start to rise. Then the alarms go off, announcing a swarm of Radamu attacking from land, sea and air. "They would, as usual, have to pick a time like this to attack," remarks Noal. "Of course," Balzac returns. "We can't expect D-Boy to save the day this time." Above the Alaska base, Lance is watching the humans scurry to defend themselves, and wonders how long it's going to take before Blade appears.
