Episode Description:
The Radamu attack the human defenders of the Alaska base ruthlessly, even more arriving to back
up the initial waves. Their assault caves in more than one portion of the maze-like corridors
and rooms under the frozen ground. "I can't hurry up the Blastor process," Freeman mutters as
the roof above them starts to crumble. "Then stop it and let him out!" Aki begs. "He'd die if
I did that at this point," Freeman tells her. "We can only continue to progress through the
powering-up cycle." Barnard loads his gun. "Then it's up to us to hold the enemy at bay until
it's finished," the Marine Sergeant says grimly. "Let's go!" The others agree. Barnard calls
up a display map of the base, and dispatches teams to guard key points. The Sergeant tosses
his rifle to Freeman. "You've got something better than this in stock, don't you, Chief?" the
Marine grins. "I do..." and Freeman unlocks a cabinet in which automatic assault rifles are
stored, and passes them out. The Space Knight teams fan out to their assigned posts, as
Freeman, Aki, Miri and Barnard remain behind as a last-ditch defense for Pegas and the
immobilized D-Boy. The two repaired Tekkamen Sol also join in the defense. Lance, now minus
his armor, watches the progress of the attack with amusement, and shortly finds his way into
the base through a breached ceiling. Honda is kidding Rebin in an attempt to keep the bishonen's
jitters in check, but it's obvious the computer expert is more worried about D-Boy than his own
safety. They know that the Radamu's main target is going to be Takaya. Lance has found an
elevator and is on his way down to the main floor of the base. Not initially realizing that
Lance, still without his armor, is an enemy, the guard at the elevator's door hesitates to shoot.
"Who are you?" the guard demands. "I'm Morotu - Radamu General!" is the reply, as Morotu rushes
him. Lance quickly dispatches him in a scene reminiscent of that when Darth Vader questioned and
then killed the starship officer in one of the opening scenes of STAR WARS...Morotu may look like
a wimp, but he's extraordinarily strong even without his armor! As he strides down the corridor,
Lance activates a booby trap, and a bomb goes off. Troops arrive to shoot down the smoke-filled
corridor in a panic, Rebin and Honda adding to their numbers. To their horror, an armored form
emerges from the fumes, and they realize they are facing another Tekkaman rather than a 'simple'
Radamu BEM. Lance ruthlessly wipes out the detachment of soldiers, then turns his attention to
Rebin and Honda. Holding the only surviving soldier in front of him as an (unnecessary) human
shield, Lance walks up to the two Space Knights. "Where is Blade? It's Blade I'm interested
in!" Lance tells them. "Get back!" the soldier shouts, and Honda and Rebin dive for cover as
they realize the man has activated a bomb on his backpack. His sacrifice is in vain; Lance
isn't even distracted by the blast. The Tekkaman strides - walking horizontally along one
wall! - toward the two stunned Space Knights. With a laugh, he points one of their own guns
at them. As he pulls the trigger, Honda tackles Rebin and the two fall to the ground. Lance
shoots out the ceiling instead of at them, and the two are knocked unconscious and pinned under
the debris. Lance points the gun at them again, and realizes it's out of ammunition. In
disgust he continues his hunt for Blade. "It won't be long now," Freeman tells the defenders,
but they are at the moment more worried by the strange sounds they hear coming out of the
corridor. Leaving the computers, Freeman picks up his rifle and joins them at the heavy metal
door - which Lance makes short work of, his blows making a ragged hole more than large enough
for the Tekkaman to walk through. The four defenders shoot at him. He seems to disappear -
and then they realize he's hanging from the ceiling! Lance displays lightning speed as he
attacks and disarms Aki, and walks boldly into the experimental chamber. He looks up and sees
Pegas suspended from the ceiling. "Ah, Blade, that's where you are," he says quietly,
displaying little of the cocky proclamations the other Radamu Tekkamen have used in the past.
His calm confidence lends an air of competence to Lance's demeanor that is a nice contrast to
the blustery posturing of his predecessors. Behind Lance, Barnard pulls a hand grenade off his
belt, while inside Pegas D-Boy has nearly completed the transformation into Blastor. The lines
explode off of Pegas as the power-up is completed, and Lance wonders what's going on. Barnard
throws the grenade with a warning shout to the others. Lance skewers him, and shrugs off the
grenade's blast. Barnard is thrown at the others' feet as Pegas opens and D-Boy emerges. His
Blade armor appears somewhat battered, and then he is enveloped in an energy surge - and the
cracked, dented exterior sloughs off to reveal the sharp, smooth and unfamiliar lines of the
Blastor Tekkaman. Morotu blasts away at Blastor, to no effect. Lance immediately realizes
that he's outclassed, and is determined to take the battle outside where the normal Radamu
troops will see what has happened - and report this alarming development to Omega. Blastor
attacks him, and the two crash through a wall. "So that's your Blastor Tekkaman," Barnard
whispers as Freeman props him up. "I hope it proves worth the effort. The Boyo is one of the
best warrior's I've worked with..." He takes a swig of whiskey and passes out, dying in his
old friend's arms. Blastor and Lance crash skyward, shocking the hell out of the two Tekkamen
Sol. Lance is fighting grimly, knowing only too well he's not going to get out of this alive
- but determined to make D-Boy work for his victory. At least they're now above ground, so
Omega will get word of what has happened. For a minute Lance thinks he may have been able to
surprise Blade/Blastor with the energy cannon mounted on his neck, but that hope is quickly
dashed as Blastor counterattacks, and Lance is struggling to avoid Blastor's own return fire.
Then Blastor opens up with the full power of his vortex blast. Lance tries to retreat, but is
caught and destroyed in the energy vortex. So powerful is the blast that even the Tekkamen
Sol, on the ground, are caught in its shockwave and knocked down. "I think the Chief was
successful," Noal says. "And D-Boy certainly showed he knows how to use it!" Balzac returns
cheerfully. "Guess he ended up saving the day after all!" Below, Pegas returns to the
experimental laboratory, and the worried Space Knights rush up to him as the robot's
transformation chamber opens up. D-Boy collapses to his knees as he gets out, his eyes still
glowing with power. Blinded, D-Boy stumbles forward. "Barnard, where's Sergeant Barnard?" he
asks, unable to see the Marine's body at their feet. He cries out in frustration and rage as
they tell him Barnard is dead. >
