Yomigaeru Akuma Evil, Resurrected Devil

Episode Description:
Freeman has summoned several specialists to the Alaskan base to examine Takaya, still confined
to sickbay. The main problem, one of the doctors says, is that what Takaya really needs is a
long rest to let his body heal itself. But that sort of time is the one thing the humans don't
have. The old problem of more damage being caused every time D-Boy armors up still remains as
well. The doctors will do the best they can to minimize the effects, but the root cause of
Takaya's illness will not be removed until he can stop becoming Blade so often. His nervous
system is simply becoming overloaded by the monstrous powerflows it must channel and control.
(Actually, the diagnosis is a bit more complicated than that, but my Japanese isn't good enough
to get all the details. Sorry! It's interesting to note that for once they've given a major
character a problem that basically can’t be solved by a technological or medical gimmick of
some sort. Admittedly it's not original - Ken Washio, in Gatchaman Fighter - another Tatsunoko
show - experienced nearly fatal medical problems due to using the 'hypershoot'.) All the
"Tekkaman team", including Balzac - who has by now become accepted as a member of that team -
are present to hear the diagnosis by the head specialist. They are relieved to hear the
doctors think they can control D-Boy's symptoms. On Luna, Omega is giving orders to Evil. Omega
intends to keep Sword on the Orbital Ring as a last line of defense against the humans. With
both Axe and Lance dead, that means Evil is being given a new chance to go up against his older
brother. Evil glances nervously up at Omega, who is now festooned with dozens of feeder tubes,
and is obviously increasing in size and power. Omega tells him they have to eliminate Blade,
and soon. Another huge clutch of Radamu eggs are nearly ready to hatch. Once those new warriors
- including some specially genetically engineered ones - crack open, it will be time for their
final push against the humans. Omega does not want Blade interfering with that effort. Back at
the Alaskan base, Aki arrives in D-Boy's hospital room to find his bed empty. Takaya has made
his way to the abandoned greenhouse that once supplied the base with additional food. Barnard
has been buried here, and D-Boy has come to pay his last respects to the older man who had
become something of a role model and substitute father for Takaya. Aki approaches, and they
talk for a bit - and D-Boy says "My name is Takaya". Aki thinks this means he's accepted his
past, and is a sign he's starting to loosen up a little. Evil, standing on his Radamu steed,
approaches the Orbital Ring. Hun Rii greets him dispassionately. They discuss Lance's failure
to eliminate Blade. "Are you going with me?" Shinya asks as he prepares to depart. "No, I'm
ordered to watch things from here," she replies. "Good. That leaves me to deal with my older
brother," he smiles grimly. Hun Rii watches him go, and shortly Evil is enroute to Earth. The
Space Knights are gathered in Freeman's briefing room. The Chief sees the current lack of
major Radamu activity as a sign of something far worse in the works. They discuss the
possibilities in a worried brainstorming session. Shinya has now touched down, and sheds his
armor. D-Boy is in his quarters when he gets a call from Aki. She calls him "D-Boy" again, he
finally says, "Who is D-Boy? I'm Takaya." Aki rushes to the Chief to give him the bad news;
they both go find the specialist and ask him what could be causing Takaya's spotty amnesia.
"Let's face it, no matter what we do, he's going to have problems so long as his nervous system
is subjected to those unregulated power flows," the doctor says. "Blade, Blastor, it doesn't
matter." Shinya has quietly made his way into one of the deserted areas of the base. "Blade,"
he says quietly, activating the link the Tekkaman share, the image of his tekkaset glowing on
his forehead. Takaya easily hears him, and goes looking. (Obviously, Takaya has become almost
as obsessed about Shinya as his younger brother is about him...) He is intercepted by Aki.
"D-Boy, what--?" she asks, seeing the look on his face. "It's Evil," he replies, brushing past
her. (I doubt he would have let anyone know of Evil's arrival if Aki hadn't found him just
then.) "D-Boy, stop, you're not well enough!" she begs. "I'm Tekkaman Blade, Takaya Aiba, and
I have my duty to perform!" he tells her fiercely, shaking her off and running down the
corridor. D-Boy shortly has found a small cart and is heading down deserted hallways towards
the waiting Shinya. Shinya makes a few nasty cracks, and D-Boy demonstrates how close he's
once more to the edge by rapidly losing his temper and attacking his younger brother. Shinya
quickly recognizes that while Takaya's berserker rage leaves him less in control, it also lends
him an extra strength as they fall through half-closed doors and the frail window of an
elevator. But the younger twin continues to egg Takaya on, until he's almost blind in his fury.
"Have you forgotten, older brother? You need that damned robot to help you change - I don't!"
Then Shinya uses his tekkaset and calls Evil's armor. D-Boy abruptly realizes the mess he's
gotten himself into. He calls for Pegas, but it will be long minutes before the robot will be
able to arrive. In the meantime, he's going to have to avoid Evil's attacks. "DIE!!" Evil
hisses, razor-sharp blades extending a foot or more from his wrists. D-Boy tries to strike
back with a length of metal pipe, but Shinya contemptuously bats away the improvised weapon.
Takaya is knocked to the ground. Evil's next attack is forestalled by Pegas, who forces open
the locked bay doors to get to D-Boy. Blade emerges from the transformation chamber, and the
two lock horns once more, so to speak. Freeman orders Balzac and Noal into their own armor as
the battle in the depths of the base continues. Both brothers fight each other with obsessive
fury, neither giving any quarter. Shinya manages to knock Blade down, and buries one end of
his four-headed lance into the torso of D-Boy's armor.
