Moetsukiru Myo
Blazing Destiny

.
. Episode Description:

Pegas and Blade are rapidly approaching Luna, D-Boy driven by his rage. Omega waits for him, growing in size as power pours into his armor from all the Radamu. "This is the finally battle," Omega says to himself. Aki reports to Freeman that Evil is dead, and Blade is enroute to Luna to take out the Radamu advance base there. "He has Evil's crystal," she says. "He may have a chance, then - but I don't know if he'll be able to survive the power that will be channeled through his nervous system, drawing on two crystals," Freeman muses. "Meanwhile, WE must go on with the push against the Radamu!" "Freeman, can we just let D-Boy die?" Honda demands. "It's a devil's choice," Freeman admits. "But if we spare anyone to go after him, or even after Blue Earth, that may make the difference between winning and losing this battle. And if we lose this one, we'll never get another chance." As he speaks, we get a glimpse of the crashed Blue Earth, a badly wounded, bloody Noal collapsed over his control board. Slowly, the others agree, and Rebin activates the Orbital Ring's laser system, the cannon flaring to lash down at the Radamu on Earth. There, humans gape in awe, wonder, and hopeful relief as the lasers wreak havoc among the alien forces. Nearing the moon, D-Boy is in agony from injuries as well as the side-effects of the amount of power he is using; memories of his friends and family dominate his thoughts. For their sake, he must press on. He faints for a minute, falling off Pegas; the robot must go after him. Rebin reports to Freeman that an alien spacecraft - undoubtedly Radamu - is lifting off the Moon and seems to be headed toward the Orbital Ring. D-Boy uses Evil's tekkaset to re-energize, and blazes a path toward the Radamu ship, crashing through the walls, destroying Radamu egg-chambers as he heads for Omega. Finally he finds the throneroom. Omega is now huge, Kengo's body - almost completely absorbed by the Radamu who controls him - taking up perhaps half of Omega's chest area. Only Kengo's head, eyes staring wildly, is visible. Omega sees Evil's crystal in Blade's hand. "So Shinya failed in the end, too," he says with a sneer. Tentacles emerge from the floor to entrap Pegas and Blade. "You demon, you won't defeat me!" For a moment, Blade gets a glimpse of what's left of his brother, and is sickened. He knows now that Omega is now only Radamu - there is nothing of what was once his older brother left. The tentacles throw Blade through the nearest wall into space, and Omega, at least 30 meters high now, emerges to continue the battle. Despite his mass and height, Omega is still fast as well as powerful; Blade attacks but is driven off easily. More tentacles strike out at him, wounding him badly and then pin him into place. In the background we can hear Aki praying for his safety and success. Pegas is destroyed while protecting Blade, torn into pieces; the Blade tekkaset shatters into tiny pieces as Pegas’ last words are from Johnny Boy. Furious, Blade breaks the tentacles holding him. Drawing power from Evil's tekkaset, he creates a huge energy cyclone which burns its way toward Omega. D-Boy's image keeps changing, from naked, to Blade, Blastor, to Evil - and a strange, menacing combination of both the Evil and Blade armors that terrorizes the shocked Omega. The Radamu leader blasts at the cyclone, but it is unaffected by his attacks. The two touch. For a minute Takaya sees his older brother as he once knew him, and then D-Boy releases the power overload he has been building up to. The resulting explosion not only destroys the Radamu ship, but is bright enough to be seen in the daytime sky. Briefly, as debris rains down, we see Blade's form plunging Earthward engulfed in a heat wave. The remaining Radamu fall quickly after that; Omega's death more or less cut off their collective 'head'. Soon the humans are re-building their shattered cities, and the work has begun on disposing of the remaining Radamu lifeforms. Noal slowly limps through the new Space Knight building, still on crutches from the injuries resulting from Blue Earth's crash. He heads out in a jeep to a small house beyond the city. He sees Aki, hair cut short, standing next to a wheel-chair bound D-Boy. Freeman greets him. "Will he recover, Chief?" Noal asks. "We don't know yet," he replies. Aki turns to D-Boy. "Feeling any better, D-Boy?" she asks. Slowly, he looks up at her and smiles. "Aki--" he says, and she kneels down to put her head in his lap as the final episode ends. There are lots of visual goodies in the 'street evacuation scenes for those with a quick eye and knowledge of older Tatsunoko shows. In addition to the glimpses of clones from the original Tekkaman, we catch a quick glimpse of a man who looks a lot like Dr. Nambu from Gatchaman; and I recognized some characters from Cashan well. This adds a bit of fun to these final episodes. And, yes, D-Boy won't be in that wheelchair forever! Both he and Aki are involved in the new Tekkaman corps that will be appearing in the "Tekkaman Blade Next Generation" OAVs! Hallelujah, for once we have a fairly happy ending to a 'serious' Japanese s-f anime series!
